Executive Director's Message
Having served on the Board
of Directors of my local Boys & Girls Club for over three decades,
my appointment to the position of Executive Director for the Connecticut
Alliance in September 2004 provided me with another opportunity
to serve an organization that I passionately believe in.
While I fully recognize the challenges that lie ahead for the Alliance,
I am convinced that the success of our movement within the State
of Connecticut and the growth initiatives that play a key role in
that success, can not be separated from the successes of the Alliance.
As noted in our President's Message, governmental funding, on both
the state and federal level, are essential components of both our
growth and outreach initiatives.
The efforts of the Alliance are currently focused on the three programs
described in more detail within the Connecticut Alliance Programs
section of this website. Collectively, the three initiatives define
both our mission and the means by which we intend to accomplish
that mission. The first, "State Budget - Line Item Strategy"
focuses on those actions that hopefully will result in the increased
funded needed to fuel our growth strategy. The second, "Programming
at The Connecticut Juvenile Training School" fulfills both
a small portion of our growth initiative and at the same time, demonstrates
to our State Legislature and their associated departments, both
the capabilities and capacity our movement possesses and the soundness
of an increased investment on the part of our State in our movement.
The third program, "Boys & Girls Clubs Licensing Clarification"
demonstrates the need to address statewide issues as a single force
and the role of the Alliance in those areas that threaten the future
of our traditional service provisioning.
I believe that the staffing and funding commitments made to the
Alliance by each of the state's sixteen clubs is, in itself, a wise
investment and one that will provide a substantial return in the
future. I personally, am committed to providing that investment
return.
Sincerely
Joe Andreana
Executive Director
